At KSOM, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for everyone who takes part in our activities — including children, young people, and adults.

As a registered charity, we take our responsibility seriously to protect the wellbeing of all those who connect with us, whether through our community programmes, café, events, or partnerships.

This safeguarding commitment applies to:

  • Children and young people attending our after-school and community activities
  • Adults participating in our sessions, including those who may be vulnerable
  • Volunteers, staff, trustees, and anyone working with or on behalf of KSOM

We aim to:

  • Provide a safe and inclusive space where everyone feels respected and supported
  • Take all concerns and disclosures seriously
  • Act promptly and appropriately where there are safeguarding concerns
  • Work in line with UK safeguarding guidance and best practice
  • Ensure all volunteers and team members understand their safeguarding responsibilities

For out after-school and youth-based activities, we:

  • Maintain appropriate supervision at all times
  • Ensure volunteers working with children are safely recruited
  • Follow clear procedures for responding to any concerns
  • Promote a positive and respectful environment for all young people

For our adult programmes, including wellbeing and community sessions, we:

  • Respect the dignity, independence, and choices of all participants
  • Remain alert to signs of vulnerability or risk
  • Respond appropriately to any concerns about safety or wellbeing
  • Support a culture of openness, respect, and inclusion
